EMPOWERMENT

What empowerment means?

Empowerment is a degree of autonomy, self-determination, confidence, and self-esteem. It is a personal power which is a type of mental toughness, that you bring to all situations. Consequently, it enables you to control your life and follow your life’s purpose. It allows and helps you to take decisive and deliberate steps to achieve your desired goals.

Personal power is to live intentionally, with a purpose and optimism.

The level of your empowerment is connected with your energy. More energy you have, more empowered you are.

Inner strength, confidence, and personal power are the essential qualities required to regain control over your life.

Why you lost your power?

You were born powerful. When you were a child, you were full of vital energy, joy, optimism, and creativity. Yet, western society has not allowed you to keep and develop those essential qualities during your upbringing. Your power became blocked, and you lost access to it. You were constantly under the influence of the external environment, which taught you only to obey and not to think for yourself.

As a consequence, your spirit shrunk, and you received a message that you are inferior. You learned that: following the rules was the only way to survive.

This way of thinking does not allow you to mature nor to take responsibility for your own life. A passive and conditioned lifestyle kills your personal power. Following the crowd, sacrificing your own truth for acceptance, the necessity of belonging, the fear of being rejected; all this makes you a follower. Your life has no meaning, no purpose. When you live this way, your energy level drops and your self-esteem will decrease.

Without personal power, you drift through life with low self-esteem and a lack of confidence.

What are the effects of lack of personal power?

Without personal power, you drift through life with low self-esteem and a lack of confidence. You cannot fully express yourself, take life into your hands, or follow your passion and calling. When you are at this low energy level, you often succumb to others’ expectations of you. You fall under their influence or manipulations. You let them make decisions and end up feeling worthless and incompetent.

In this state of energetic weakness, you can also carry a lot of guilt, frustration, anger, and resentment. You may complain but you do not change anything because you are easily hurt or scared of judgment and criticism. You may also find it challenging to deal with intense conflicts and emotions or have negative thoughts and end up being pessimistic. Simply put, you lose the connection with who you truly are and what you want in your life. Your power goes into negative thoughts, emotions, and beliefs. Your power will begin to feel out of your reach. This spiral can bring you only down.

Without inner strength, you will always expect a quiet and easy life but that does not mean it is a good life.

Why empowerment is necessary?

Inner strength, confidence, and personal power are the essential qualities required to regain control over your life. They help you to express yourself and to follow your calling and passion. Without personal power, you will lead a meaningless life in which you will just follow the crowd and end up fearful of being yourself. Even if you find your life’s purpose, you will not have enough energy and courage to follow it.

Without inner strength, you will always expect a quiet and easy life. You will seek comfort through the least resistant path. This attitude will result in stagnation and boredom.

To feel alive, joyful, and confident, you need to empower yourself. Only this can help you to surf the waves of your life. There are always going to be obstacles and challenges, you can’t avoid them. But confidence, courage, and vital energy will help you to overcome them and achieve your life’s goals.

There are many techniques and practices which can support you to expand your energy. Each lead to one purpose: to unlock your power.

How empowerment can be developed?

You develop empowerment by getting your own energy back. This energy had previously been invested in the thoughts, emotions, and beliefs that have not serving you.

There are many techniques and practices which can support you to expand your energy. Each lead to one purpose: to unlock your power.

Let me give you a couple of examples:

Grow your awareness and the ability to be present.

You lose a lot of energy while doing things automatically. The mechanism of every habit is absorbing a considerable amount of your vitality.

Acting out of inspiration and spontaneously, instead of mechanically, raises the levels of energy dramatically. For instance, did you notice what happens every time you break your routine? Neither it is for a good reason or an unexpected problem, you are much more present, and therefore, you have much more energy.

Observe and remove the beliefs that are taking your personal power.

You have many beliefs which are pulling your energy down and taking power away from you. They manifest as an internal dialogue. It can sound like: “I don’t deserve it”, “I am not good enough”, “I can’t do it”, “It’s not for me”. Those beliefs can be with you for years. Changing them will release the energy you invest in them every day. This energy will come back to you.

Clarify and express what is important for you.

Express your needs, desires and wants. Do not suppress them. Your internal conflicts are sucking a lot of your energy. Especially, when you force yourself to do something you don’t want to do or when you allow yourself to be pulled away from things that are important to you.

Find your life purpose and follow it.

Dedicating your life to a higher goal and following your dream will always bring a lot of personal power and joy into your life. It can be family, any project, personal development, or spiritual path. The most important part of life is to have clarity of life’s direction and to stick to it.

Confront and overcome challenges.

Every time you face intensity and obstacles, you increase your energy, gain confidence, and empower yourself. For this reason, you must not avoid conflicts or difficulties. They make you stronger and give you mental toughness. As the common saying goes, ‘what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger’.

Take part in the intense physical activities, practice martial arts and energetic techniques.

When you strengthen your body, apply discipline, and work energetically, you break down blockages and release your energy. It also provides you with stamina and a will to do your best, which are crucial factors in increasing the personal power.

Heal your past and your emotional burdens.

A large amount of energy is invested in your emotions, which originate from past experiences.

You may carry guilt, shame, fear, self-pity, grief, resentment, or anger. All these emotions capture your energy through your attachment to the past. The practise of letting go will liberate you and bring back your power.

This list is not exhaustive. There are many ways to restore your energy level. The empowerment process is an essential component of your personal and spiritual growth.
