A woman sitting in her living room with her head bowed. In front of her are five empty cups. Outside, a storm is raging.
Sadness, disappointment, existential exhaustion, lack of motivation. This card represents the moment when you have run out of EMOTIONAL ENERGY.
In other words, when emotions crystallize and become HEAVIER and denser.
What the Five of Cups Is Telling You
This card tells you: You are not allowing LIFE to flow through your HEART.
You are AVOIDING emotions. Intimate connection. Following your HEART. And this has left you in a space of disconnection where you feel alone.
You need to FEEL again.
Why We Avoid Feeling
Perhaps your mechanical, rational routine has disconnected you from your body and your emotions.
Or perhaps you had a painful experience in the past, a heartbreak, or a disappointment, and you UNCONSCIOUSLY decided to stop paying attention to what happens in your chest. To protect yourself.
Or perhaps you are going through a moment of transformation (something inside you is dying), you know that something is changing forever, and you don’t want to feel the grieving process.
Or there is pain from the past that is so intense that the moment it appears, you immediately surrender to distractions and ways of escaping.
These are some of the reasons and ways we avoid FEELING. And this comes at a cost. Energy becomes stagnant in our hearts, and we enter a state of deep disconnection and loneliness.
IT’S NOT TRUE!!! YOU ARE NOT ALONE!! NOT EVERYTHING IS LOST!!
Don’t you dare believe it!
But if you are there, wake up now to the fact that your emotions are stuck and you need to DO SOMETHING to FEEL AGAIN.
How to Feel Again
Dance, listen to music, stop, go into nature, read that poet from your childhood, hug the person next to you, look them in the eyes, ask them from your heart how they are doing.
And when the emotions begin to appear, they may feel heavy at first.
The Mud and the Water
Have you seen those videos of dams releasing pressure after being closed for months?? The first thing that comes out is mud. Embrace the mud. Feel it. It is not you. It tells you nothing real about life. But if it’s there, it’s there.
And then, after the mud…. comes the water!! Which is free and light emotional energy, filling you and bringing joy to your soul!
Don’t think that states of apathy and depression are an absence of emotions. They are, in fact, an EXCESS of UNFELT emotions inside you.
What Am I Afraid to Feel?
Are there moments when I run away from other people’s emotions?
Do I have an emotional connection with the people in my life and my life projects, or have they become logical transactions?
Your other half is waiting for you in the center of your chest. Don’t keep it waiting any longer!
